VLP Intellectual Property Partner David Thibodeau was invited to serve as a panelist at the Internet of Things World (IoT) Conference in Santa Clara, California, May 14-17, 2018.  Mr. Thibodeau participated on a panel titled “Intellectual Property (IP) Ramifications in the Age of IoT.”

IoT World has grown over the last four years to cover nearly all aspects of IoT from industrial to healthcare to architecture and software. It now attracts over 12,000 participants, 300+ exhibitors, with activities on two center-stages over 4 days.

The “IP and IoT” panelists focused on questions such as: How is intellectual property generated in IoT systems/networks? Who controls access to it and who owns the IP rights?  What are the potential value propositions? How should revenue be equitably shared? What IP legal challenges specific to IoT are on the horizon?
