On January 30, 2018, VLP Law Group LLP presented a free webinar titled, “Staying Out of the News: How to Address Today’s Security Addenda and the GDPR.”
Privacy and data security continue to be important for all companies. Even where services are provided to customers indirectly, companies are increasingly requiring vendors to have strong privacy and data security procedures in place. In this webinar, presenters Melissa Krasnow and David Goldenberg addressed these privacy and data security requirements, which typically are included in a Security Addendum, as well as discussed whether the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is applicable. The GDPR will become enforceable on May 25, 2018 and companies which are not compliant with the GDPR may face significant penalties and enforcement. Provisions regarding compliance with the GDPR often are included in a Security Addendum or a related agreement.
