VLP Law Group LLP Honored by the Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition for the Fifth Consecutive Year

Posted on Nov 2, 2018 in Press Releases by VLP Law Group

San Francisco, CA (November 2, 2016) – VLP Law Group is pleased to announce that the firm has been the recipient of the Bronze Award by the San Francisco Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition. This is the fifth consecutive year that VLP has been honored with the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award of Excellence for policies that support work/family life balance and a commitment to working families.

Karen Saraco, a member of the firm’s administrative staff, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the annual awards ceremony held in San Francisco on October 30.

This was Ms. Saraco’s fourth year attending the awards ceremony. She noted that there were more award winners this year than ever, so the initiative seems to be gaining momentum. She also noted that lower wage earners need the most help in this respect. These include non-union hospitality, hair/nail salons and spas, teachers, restaurant workers, etc.

Ms. Saraco said: “What first began as advocating for a mother’s right to nurse at work and to have support doing so has turned to supporting parents and families. It seems more about changing policy and attitudes.”

The speakers, California State Senator Scott Wiener and California State Assembly member David Chiu, spoke about enacting change at the California government level, noting that these policies have made their way to the capital and high profile companies are following through.
