VLP Law Group LLP Honored by the Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition for the Fifth Consecutive Year

San Francisco, CA (October 16, 2017) – VLP Law Group is pleased to announce that the firm has been the recipient of the Bronze Award by the San Francisco Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition. This is the fifth consecutive year that VLP has been honored with the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award of Excellence for policies that support work/family life balance and a commitment to working families.
Karen Saraco accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the annual awards ceremony held in San Francisco on October 16.
This year’s ceremony featured advocates for health and equity, government officials, including San Francisco City Administrator Naomi Kelly, Supervisor Katy Tang and Senator Scott Wiener, and employer and employee representatives from LUCY, Planet Labs and La Cocina sharing their first-hand experience implementing and benefiting from family-friendly workplace policies.
The program also featured representatives from non-profits and businesses that are helping to promote facilities and support for nursing mothers. Ms. Saraco noted that, although she is past being a nursing mother, her energy is now focused on supporting families in the workplace. This was her fourth year attending the awards ceremony.
“In San Francisco,” she said, “where many progressive public policies begin, we have succeeded in putting into place parental leave public policy and we hope the rest of the nation follows.”
Ms. Saraco added that she would like to see even more mothers and policy makers attend next year’s event. “It helps plant the seed for change,” she said.
About The Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition
The Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition is a group of government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and employers collaborating to improve the working conditions, equity, and health of pregnant women and new parents. Their work has helped lead employers to improve policies covering tens of thousands of employees. The Coalition and community partners have developed the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award for Excellence in Maternal Health and Equity that will recognize San Francisco employers with policies that support the wellbeing of their workers.
