State and Local
VLP’s tax practice includes planning and consulting with clients on a wide array of state and local tax matters, such as corporate franchise and income taxes, sales and use taxes, real and personal property taxes, local business license taxes, gross receipts taxes, capital stock taxes, documentary and other transfer taxes, and personal income taxes. In addition, our tax attorneys regularly advise clients on the state and local tax implications associated with acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, including multistate analyses of potential mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions.
We advise nonprofit clients with respect to federal and state tax-exempt organization rules, including formation, reporting, private inurement, excess benefit transactions, joint venturing with for-profit partners and income from unrelated business ventures.
