VLP Welcomes Seven New Attorneys in Corporate, Technology Transactions and Intellectual Property

VLP Law Group LLP is pleased to announce the addition of seven new attorneys thus far in 2023. Jason Crain, Steven Jackman and Doreen Trujillo join the firm as Partners and Sherrie Quinn, Amit Raviv, Aubrey Refuerzo and Xuezhen (Chad) Tian join the firm as Counsel.

Jason Crain concentrates his practice on representing emerging growth companies, entrepreneurs, and investors in the areas of corporate, commercial contracts, employment and equity compensation, capital raising, and M&A. Prior to joining VLP, Jason was a member of the emerging companies practice groups at Perkins Coie, Orrick, and Venture Law Group and served in-house at several companies. Jason also served in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear-trained submarine officer and JAG. Jason is a graduate of Yale Law School, Stanford University and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

Steve Jackman focuses on commercial transactions and brings more than 30 years’ experience counseling clients, both in private practice and as in-house counsel, with a focus on the manufacturing and data center industries. Steve practiced at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton and Holland & Knight before moving in-house for the next 20 years, including at two leading contract manufacturers. Steve received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law (now UC College of the Law, San Francisco).

Doreen Trujillo represents her clients in numerous facets of patent law, including prosecution and counseling, opinion preparation, licensing, due diligence, and litigation. Doreen has a strong background in the life sciences and biotechnology, with a focus on immunology. Before joining VLP, Doreen was a partner/shareholder at several national firms in the Philadelphia area, including most recently Saul Ewing. Doreen received her JD from the University of Houston Law Center, and she was recently included in the 2024 edition of The Best Lawyers in America® for Patent Law.

Sherrie Quinn specializes in the representation of emerging growth companies, venture capital funds and angel investors in the technology and life sciences industries. Prior to joining VLP, she worked in the Silicon Valley offices of Gunderson Dettmer and Goodwin Procter. Sherrie is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and the University of Toronto.

Amit Raviv counsels early-stage, rapidly scaling and late-stage growth companies and their venture capital and strategic investors. Prior to joining VLP, Amit was a corporate associate at a prominent international law firm in New York City, where his practice primarily concentrated on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. Amit is a graduate of UC Davis and American University Washington College of Law.

Aubrey Refuerzo focuses on advising companies throughout their lifecycle, and she enjoys partnering with and guiding the venture capital firms and private equity funds inspired by the emerging companies community. Prior to joining VLP, Aubrey was a Senior Associate at Orrick. She is a graduate of Northwestern University and University of Chicago Law School.  

Xuezhen (Chad) Tian focuses on intellectual property counseling, patent portfolio development, and intellectual property rights enforcement. Before joining the firm, Chad was an associate in the Silicon Valley office of Womble Bond Dickinson and a Counsel in the San Francisco office of Tucker Ellis. Prior to practicing law, Chad worked as a software engineer and a senior technical consultant, building enterprise applications for several Fortune 500 companies. Chad received his JD and MBA from Ohio University and his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Franklin University.
