VLP Partner Melissa Krasnow Featured in Financial Executives International Daily Article “Cyber Security: What You Need to Know to Face the Inevitable”

VLP Partner Melissa Krasnow served as the moderator of a panel discussion at the Financial Executives International Technology for Finance Leaders conference in June 2019. A review of the discussion of this panel, which included the U.S. Secret Service Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Field Office, AIG’s Network Security & Privacy Specialist – Midwest Region and the Founder and Managing Partner of Enterprise Knowledge Partners, was posted in an article titled “Cyber Security: What You Need to Know to Face the Inevitable.”
This article discussed mitigating the negative impacts of business email compromises and cyber breaches.
According to this article: “Beyond facing the board, Melissa Krasnow, Partner at VLP Law Group, notes that disclosing the breach or incident outside the organization is vital, arguing ‘there might be some short-term pain, but if you get out ahead and disclose it – you won’t be accused of hiding it. You have to weigh the risks. It’s not easy or fun to disclose it, there are costs associated with disclosing it, in terms of engaging forensics and legal counsel.’ Furthermore, Krasnow notes that companies are being required to disclose with increasing frequency whether they have had a breach in mergers and acquisitions, transactions, and even technology purchases.”
