VLP Law Group Founding Partner David Goldenberg Quoted The Recorder article “Kleiner Perkins Set to Fight $16 Million Sex Discrimination Suit”

Posted on Feb 13, 2015 in News by David Goldenberg

VLP Law Group Founding Partner David Goldenberg was quoted in The Recorder article “Kleiner Perkins Set to Fight $16 Million Sex Discrimination Suit.” The article details a lawsuit filed by a former partner regarding gender discrimination in one of Silicon Valley’s most distinguished venture capital firms.

The article noted a 2014 study by Babson College in Massachusetts stating that the VC gender disparity is getting worse. The percentage of women partners in U.S. venture-capital firms dropped from 10 percent in 1999, to 6 percent last year. Venture-capital firms with women partners are twice as likely to invest in companies with women on the management team, the study found.

Mr. Goldenberg said women in the venture-capital firms he represents and works with tend to be unevenly distributed throughout the company. “There are a good number of female VCs in the more junior positions and not so many in the upper positions.”
