VLP Founding Partner David Goldenberg quoted in Daily Journal article “Investment Rules Undergoing Rare Review”

Posted on Jun 12, 2014 in News by David Goldenberg

David Goldenberg, founding partner of VLP Law Group and member of the Firm’s Corporate Group, was recently interviewed by the Daily Journal regarding a review by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of accredited investor rules. The article, titled “Investment Rules Undergoing Rare Review,” discusses the SEC’s unprecedented review of what defines an “accredited investor” – or who can invest in private companies – a definition that has remained mostly unaltered for almost thirty years.

The article reported that most attorneys are expecting the SEC to treat the issue with an abundance of delicacy, and few are anticipating any watershed changes when its findings are published. Mr. Goldenberg said that any effort to dampen venture investment “flies in the face of the express intent of the JOBS Act, to open up capital to broader sources.”
