Xuezhen (Chad) Tian is a Counsel in the Intellectual Property Practice of the firm and a registered patent attorney. His practice focuses on intellectual property counseling, patent portfolio development, and intellectual property rights enforcement.
Chad has represented clients of all sizes, ranging from startups to some of the largest technology companies in the world. He has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications across multiple technology areas, such as 5G technologies, autonomous driving systems, LiDAR devices, middleware application servers, operating systems, cloud services, database management, big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Internet technologies.
Chad has tremendous experience in prosecuting patent applications that originate from China. His native Mandarin proficiency gives him an edge in enhancing the quality of translated patent applications, frequently leading to faster allowances.
Before joining the firm, Chad was an associate at the Silicon Valley office of Womble Bond Dickinson LLP and a Counsel at the San Francisco office of Tucker Ellis LLP. Prior to practicing law, Chad worked as a software engineer and a senior technical consultant, building enterprise applications for several Fortune 500 companies. Additionally, he spent several years as a staff editor in the International Department of a state news agency in Beijing.
