VLP Law Group LLP Honored by the Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition for the Fourth Consecutive Year

San Francisco, CA (September 27, 2016) – VLP Law Group is pleased to announce that the firm has been the recipient of the Bronze Award by the San Francisco Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition. This is the fourth consecutive year that VLP has been honored with the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award of Excellence for policies that support work/family life balance and a commitment to working families.
Karen Saraco, a member of the firm’s administrative staff, accepted the award on behalf of the firm at the annual awards ceremony held in San Francisco on September 27.
“This is my third year attending and the energy behind this coalition is to help change attitudes and public policy regarding working families, and of course support nursing mothers returning to work,” said Ms. Saraco. “But the Family Friendly Workplace can be applied to any working person who is also a caregiver (to an aging parent, for example).”
The ceremony also celebrated the passage of the San Francisco Paid Parental Leave Ordinance and the Lactation in the Workplace policy. These policies support new families by guaranteeing paid parental leave up to six weeks and ensuring access to breastfeeding by providing dedicated spaces at work.
Ms. Saraco said, “It’s exciting to see policymakers acknowledge family work/life balance and the importance of supporting new parents returning to work.”

The Healthy Mothers Workplace Coalition is a collaboration of non-profit organizations, government agencies, and employers created to improve the working conditions and health of new parents. The Coalition and community partners have developed the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award for Excellence in Maternal Health and Equity that will recognize San Francisco employers with policies that support the wellbeing of their workers.
