BYRON RODRIGUEZ is a Partner of VLP, Chair of the firm’s Affordable Housing & Community Development and Real Estate Practice Groups and a past member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
He represents real estate developers and other project sponsors in a wide range of real estate development and capital markets transactions with a particular focus on affordable housing and community development projects that are financed with tax-advantaged capital structures.
In addition to conventional debt and equity financing sources, his clients utilize federal and state low income housing tax credits, new markets tax credits, private activity and 501(c)(3) bonds and similar public financing sources. He assists clients in compliance with various federal, state and local housing programs and property tax abatement and prevailing wage requirements. He also routinely advises community health centers and other nonprofit project sponsors on the advantages of various financing programs.
Before joining VLP, Byron practiced at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP where he was a member of the firm’s Affordable Housing & Community Development practice group.
